How does the app decide whats good, fair and failed?

As above, ive been scanning several things (admittedly through game, rather than scaniverse itself, as i find ingress works a lot faster than scaniverse does) and them having them activate, ive knky had one fail, though i was sure i was scanning it really well, doing close ups and decent distance away, only about 200 degrees admittedly cause there s a pond behind it lol. But others ive had only go to fair, but when i check the mesh it looks great to me (have posted examples below) and ive even seen some that are “good” that arent even scans of the thing in general but the road beside it or even just the tops of cars

Cause im a new user need to do these pictures one at a time lol

So does nobody answer queations kn here?

This forum is dead OP. But what app you using for high quality scans woth GPS location data?

no one actually knows how. it is machine learning models that decide.

I found out, that usually getting another person to contribute scans in different times with different device really help with getting the POIs to production state

I was using ingress, found that when i tried to use the scaniverse app to scan it either crashed or was extremely laggy, think my phone struggled with the mesh

it does not matter which scanning app you use. both can contribute. scaniverse would be good in capturing more complex objects in one take but is more demanding on device hardware yes.

I’ve been using Scaniverse (iOS) to create 3D scans for Ingress. Most of the time, everything works fine — the scan uploads successfully, shows up as “productive,” the mesh looks great — and I get the expected in-game benefits.

But for some portals, absolutely nothing happens. The scan seems high quality, good lighting, stable camera movement, everything by the book — but in Ingress there’s no response. Scaniverse Test Scan ist confirmed but in ingress no response, no bonus, no scan credit, no feedback at all.

Has anyone else run into this?

Could it be due to:

– Portal type or location?
– Some kind of hidden server-side validation?
– A bug or limitation in Scaniverse/Ingress integration?

Any insight or shared experiences would be really appreciated!
Cheers

Yes.
There seem to be some locations that just somehow behave differently. this location is broken in similar way to yours - nice mesh, but overclock always fails.
Also the overclocking itself has become unsteady to say the least: many times, the calibration fails immediately after clicking the yellow button, it does not even attempt to test the location. I have to try several times, only to fail again and again until suddenly it calibrates in a similar immediate way as the fail does.
Moreover the ingress scanner is broken for a long time - it does not display the overlay to tell the user which area is already scanned.

Next one activated – status: good.

Mesh is very beautiful and clearly visible.

Test VPS passed instantly and successfully – but unfortunately, no Ingress bonus during the overclock attempt.

That’s a bit frustrating!

Any ideas what I can do to improve the result?
Would appreciate any tips!
