Is it possible to export the raw data that is captured during a scan?
Hello,
At the moment Scaniverse does not support raw data export but this is a feature that other users have asked for as well, I’ll pass your interest along to our Scaniverse team as well. Please do keep in mind that there is no guarantee of if/when a feature will be available but you can always check out the Scaniverse website for updates
Is it possible to back up the data of splats (either stored locally or on a server)? It seems like these files are taking up a lot of storage space on the phone.
Yes this is a problem I’m starting to hit, as they take up a lot of memory.
@TsenLiu @elijustrying you can follow Apple’s guide for backing up data to back up your scans. How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
I increased the size of my iCloud space to cope.
Want to use the original data to edit on different devices, this feature is very much needed at the moment, and hope to update it as soon as possible!!
I would love this feature as well! I’m a big Scaniverse user and like to keep raw data to reprocess splats when there are improvements to the processing algorithms but it takes a lot of space on my 128GB phone.
Being able to export and import entire scans including their raw data would solve this problem completely
this is however not valid for Android users such feature would also help in implementing a data move between devices - people change phones, want to have local backup, etc.
I’m following up on the raw data export feature. There haven’t been any recent updates, and I’m curious if this functionality is still in development or planned for a future release. I’m particularly interested because accessing the original datasets in formats like colamp on my computer is essential for further processing . Any details on progress or a tentative timeline would be appreciated.
+100% vote for this!
One of the best things about polycam that has kept me using their platform over all others is that they let you export the original images (along with every other imaginable format).
This is an important and super helpful features because it let’s people back up their raw data and reduce disk usage (particularly on iphones) and also use the raw data to do other interesting and innovative things. It is also an important user-focused feature because it demonstrates you care about users’ being able to access their own data and are building a platform that supports people in doing cool things with their scans (some of which may be using the raw data in other tools), rather than primarily being a platform that provides people a semi-free scanning platform in an effort to hoover up a ton of free data for training and monetize it, which is what most scanning platforms seem to be doing lately.
To the Scaniverse team - with all due respect - I won’t help build your platform until I can be certain by content isn’t locked up in it. This is non-negotiable and something all users should consider so.
