Filter out poor quality scans from the map

What the title says. There are some dismal scans out there, unfortunately. Nicely, Scaniverse seems to know they’re bad, it’ll say so after you load the scan, in the info area. I’d rather not waste time downloading and looking at poor quality scans (or, alternately, find just the poor quality ones and rescan them).

The “views count” and “likes cont” can help in selecting interesting counts… but these info are currently quite hidden. Try my page to see them: Custom profile page with map of scans and metadata of each scan

Some of your scans

Hi Eric,

Just looking to double-check that you’re referring to Scaniverse and not Into the Scaniverse. Or are you referring to the Geospatial Browser, which is inside the Scaniverse app?

I’m talking about scans made with Scaniverse, the app. I’d love to be able to filter out poor quality scans. An example near me: there’s a scan of Somerville Museum, Somerville, MA. It’s marked as poor quality, and it is incredibly poor. I’d rather not waste time looking at them by filtering them out. Or, alternatively, filter out all except the poor scans, so that I can go to those locations and make better scans. (I’ll probably do that today for a few abysmal scans near where I live.)

Really, I’d love more access in general. For example, I can’t seem to share others’ scans - no way to get a URL to send to others. I’m not sure why that is. The scan is public on the community map. I can like it - why can’t I share it? I’ll report that separately (and the “my likes” feature in the app doesn’t work).

Thanks for asking,

Eric

Hi Eric,

Apologies for the belated reply. I did want to let you know that I forwarded your feedback to our team back when you made this post. Do note that we don’t guarantee if/when a feature request will be implemented in the app but to stay up to date you can check out the Scaniverse site and read the release notes when new updates come out.

Thanks, I appreciate hearing back from you directly. I’ve been enjoying your app overall, using it to document various sculptures and similar where I live and where I visit.

Your note reminded me I should contact Niantic developers to see if they might want to give a tech talk about it at the NVIDIA Graphics Forum. Done, grapevine activated - I’ll try Brian McClendon first, assuming I can find a path to him.

Eric

Sounds good! This forum is generally more for Scaniverse Support but worst case if you can’t get a hold of anyone (or aren’t hearing back) you can create a new topic and we can help you out

No worries, I was just blabbing - I know someone who knows Brad :).
