Is anyone using this to scan a person, to import to blender and animate in 3d

I’m guessing the kind of messy mesh, and broken to smithereens texture map, would be a hinderance to this, but has anyone tried? Any tips?

My scaniverse use is to scan small sets i build in reality for stop motion animation, I bring them into blender and combine them with real world scanned locations ( rooms corridors etc) .
Currently i only out flat “green screened characters into this scene, pre filmed, and as a png sequence, i’d like to try a 3d model, scan from my actor.
Tips?

This sounds like such an awesome application. I’ll reach out to some folks who’ve done scans of people and get back to you with some tips.

Well, splats aren’t meshes. Meshes represent surface geometry, splats are based on volume and light. But try it! Blender can import PLY files. Let us know what happens! My guess is you’ll find more success with splats as backgrounds rather than animated objects, but I’d love to be proven wrong.

Hi Fried person 26, yes, but I didn’t actually mention splats. I haven’t had much success with splats and yes, although there is a pipeline into blender, I’m mostly interested in the mesh export from Scaniverse.
I have had success, scanning, full-sized corridors, importing them into blender and matching them with small handmade models, so a real corridor runs into a small handmade room.
Yesterday I started an experiment by scanning my granddaughter, and I now have her model in blender where I am tidying it up by hand with the intention of adding an amateur and being able to animate.
My final use is to be able to choose a series of poses maybe 12 that I will create in blender, but then export separately as STL files for use in a 3-D printer. I will print out these models and buy photographing them one by one result in an animated and dancing/walking character.
