The Scaniverse app should tell user if splat scanning is not available on their device

I installed Scaniverse V4.0.4 on my iPhone Xs, which is runnng iOS 18.2
I did this on 14th December 2024

When I tapped on the red “+” button to create a new scan, I did not get the option to create a “Splat” or “Mesh”.
Instead, it only gave me these options (which are those for a “Mesh” scan):
Small Object
Medium Object
Large Object / Area

It seems that Scaniverse does not support splat scanning on iPhone XS.
After scanning all the documentation, I notice that there is a note to this effect:
“Note: At the moment, some older devices do not support creating Gaussian splats”.
However, I only discovered this after spending a lot of time trying to find out what was going on.

Assuming that I’m correct (i.e. that splat scanning is not supported on iPhone XS), I suggest that the app should be modified to give the user some explicit message to indicate that splat scanning is not available.

Hello vertigo58,

Thank you for your feedback! I have passed along your suggestion to include an in-app message notifying users if splats are unavailable on their device.
You are correct in that the iPhone XS does not support splats; the iPhone 11 is the oldest iPhone that can use this feature. Our FAQ section contains information regarding compatibility and other general questions, and you can find a list of supported devices for splatting in the section here.
