We’re kicking off our first Scaniverse Sweepstakes and would like to invite you to participate and win some awesome prizes! Our sweepstakes invites you to explore your community, scan some places, and share them on the Scaniverse Map and Community Forum. Check below for instructions for participating.
How to Participate:
To participate in our sweepstakes, all you have to do is go out into the world and scan something in one of the following categories using Niantic Scaniverse. Once scanned, you will need to post it to the Scaniverse Map and share it in the Scaniverse Community Forum via Share Link. Each unique entry type will grant you one entry into the random drawing. More entries will increase your chances of being drawn and being a winner!
Scanner’s Choice (scan of anything in your community you find interesting)
2 winners - 1 $25 gift card each
Remember, all submissions must follow our scan guidelines: public places and no faces are the two of the most important points.
In order for the entry to count, you must first post to the map and then share your link on the appropriate thread in the Scaniverse community forum.
Winners:
There will be a total of 5 winners. One winner for each of the specific categories and two for the Scanners Choice category. All entries will be submitted into a random drawing and winners will be announced via our social channels and our community forum. Winners will receive their prizes via email.
Could you please tell me about the event that started yesterday? Can I only post one in each of the four categories, a total of four posts? Or can I post as many as I want? For example, if I post 10 in each of the categories, a total of 40 posts, will someone get angry with me?
For your next contest… consider giving something that costs you nothing… like an event badge… that costs you nothing. I play both ingress and monster hunter now so prizes there would be cool. My time is worth much more than you are paying so saying you “might” pay me if I scan is just not motivating.
I would instead give out badges for accomplishments in this context… for instance it takes a great deal of effort to scan the top of tall things… those that find a way should be celebrated.
Also consider having a tag system. I would love to see all of the panda statues all over the world. So want a “panda statue “ tag. You should give me the right to tag after 10 scans and the right to create tags after 100 or so… etc etc….
Thanks for your feedback. I love your idea of badges and will share that with our team. Unfortunately, Scaniverse isn’t currently connected to any Niantic game in a way that would make that possible but that doesn’t mean it can’t be in the future.
Lastly, great suggestions regarding the tags. I too would love to see all the panda statues in the world. Especially if there’s a panda statue for the different locations in the world that had pandas on loan. I’ll be sure to hand deliver this suggestion to the team… stay tuned!
We understand how frustrating it is when the submission pages crash on mobile devices. Our team has been working hard to fix this issue, and while we haven’t been able to completely resolve it yet, we have extended the sweepstakes entry period to tomorrow, September 26th, at 12:00 PM PDT.
We encourage you to try entering the sweepstakes from a laptop or desktop computer. These devices can handle more data and cache, which may help prevent the pages from crashing.
