- Description of the issue: Scaniverse test scans on some wayspots that got to production level in recent weeks succeed, but localization at that portals in Ingress does not work. Instead these portals can be localized at other (!) portals.
- Date: 24th may 2025
- Device type & OS version: Nothing Phone (3a), Android 15
- App version: Scaniverse 5.1.1 Ingress 2.170.1
- Reproduction Steps: Try to localize the portal at Ingress in Ingress. It fails. Open Scaniverse, do a VPS test scan of this wayspot. It is successful. Again start to localize said portal, but this time turn around and go to Ingress . localization works here. In fact localization works for three other portals in the vicinity only at the latter one.

Are there any moderators or Niantic staff members here who can help push for a solution? This bug has been known for weeks and seems to affect only Ingress (not Scaniverse)!
Niantic Spatial mentioned they “investigating a possibly related issue with VPS-enabled Portals that were added after we moved to Niantic Spatial” in https://bsky.app/profile/ingress.com/post/3lxv7oldqt22o
So tested my problematic portals every day and today all three I visited worked like a charm. So test your candidates, and report!
