Unable to scan meshes

  • Description of the issue: I’ve been trying to scan meshes of small and medium-sized objects but regardless of the options, either:
  • the striped zones do not disappear and nothing gets scanned when scanning small and medium-sized objects; OR
  • the scanner would zoom in and out while I’m scanning large-scale objects, and produce a wonky mesh
Neither issues occurred when I scanned using a Samsung F7 SE.
  • Date: December 9, 2024
  • Device type & OS version: Xiaomi 14T and Mi Note 11S
  • App version: ex. V4.0.0(118)
  • Reproduction Steps: The steps I’ve used to scan are as shown in the application. However, the camera settings for the Xiaomi Note 11S are set to default whereas for the Xiaomi 14T, the following are enabled:
    *Motion capture
  • HEIF format
  • Adaptive telephoto
  • Image stabilisation
  • Auto frame rate
  • HDR10+
Do these settings affect the scanner? Or are there other things to consider?

Hello! Is this issue only happening with meshes, or are the splats also exhibiting the same behavior/issue? Do any error messages display on your screen, or are either of the devices overheating while scanning? Additionally, could you describe what striped lines you are referring to, and would you mind providing a screenshot on your device when trying to scan?

The same issue is happening with the splats. No error messages were displayed, and neither of the devices were overheating. The striped zones are as shown in the screenshot while I was trying to scan.

Thanks for the update!

If possible, would you be able to provide a logcat output of device when you try running Scaniverse? You will need android command line tools for this. Here is some documentation you can reference: https://developer.android.com/tools/logcat

Alternatively, you might be able to go into the Developer Options of your device and see if there is an option to generate a bug report. If there is, that should also include a log cat as well. Just make sure that you used Scaniverse and replicated the bug above before generating one so that we have some logged information to look at.

If you don’t see developer options on your device, this guide will show you how to enable developer mode: https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-to-get-developer-options-on-android/
