I see that any scan has two SPZ files associated, gaussians.spz and vrGaussians.spz: what is the difference?
Hi @jumpjack, do you mind letting me know where you’re seeing these two files?
FYI, the vrGaussians is a smaller, more performant (and as a result, less detailed) splat that’s to be viewed in Into The Scaniverse. The gaussians.spz is the full-res splat that can be much more detailed, depending on the level of enhancements that you choose to do in Scaniverse during training.
They are associated to each scan, they are listed in each scan page, inside tag “script#NEXT_DATA”; my page extracts and shows the links to them:
But apparently the files differ by just 10% in size.
Is the lack of vrGaussians.spz file to trigger the “scan not optimized for VR” error message in Quest viewer?
It would be also interesting to know what are frames.pb and scan.pb files in exported .zip files created by the app.
