On my phone (S22 Ultra), I can keep an app open and running on the background (by opening the running apps selecting the app text and choosing “keep open”). This allows me to process the scans with my screen off while charging. I occasionally open the app to click “enhance” to keep training the model. The phone stays relatively cool during the process.
To me, it would be useful to have the model enhancing continually until I press a “stop enhancing” button. This way, I can leave it enhancing for hours while the phone charges.
…or at least a “continue” button to carry on the processing where it stopped, rather than restarting from scratch every time the app is killed by system…
It would require a lot of storage @jumpjack. I don’t know if you are aware, but it takes GBs of RAM memory to train the splats. A save state would take a lot of storage to save the state that the training is in.
Today’s phones have a lot of storage, i wouldn’t see this as a concern. Still, if they built such feature they could always add warnings for user. Even better would be to allow processing in the background
