How can a non developer use splats in their life?

I am not a programmer/app developer. But I jokingly call myself the VP of Shenanigans at work. A couple of years ago, I made a goofy scavenger hunt around the hospital where I work. I took 2D photos of things around the campus. I created a Microsoft Form where each image was the question. And I used a response type of file attachment for people to photograph themselves (or members of their team) in front of the location to prove that they had found it.

Now I’m trying to figure out if I can somehow use splats to design a fun game for just our employees. I don’t want the splats to be public, I want them only available to the people who I allow to see them. And I need to emphasize again that I am NOT an application developer. So I’m not going to create a free-standing, downloadable application.

Is there any way to use splats for some kind of fun, but private game without learning how to code?

Oh that could be fun, and you cpuld apply that idea to various quizes etc.
i’m interested in how it could be used in a similar way in an education setting.

Would it be like providing access for a limited time tobthe suite of splats tgat once the time period was over access was removed ?

You can probably create a Sharepoint site just for your staff (or ask your IT guy to help do that) and create a page with all your embedded interactive splats there. Maybe people will need to interact with the embedded splat and try to find something you’ve hidden for them when you took the capture? You can probably link off to this site from your Microsoft Form to complement what you’ve already set up so far.

But can they interact with a splat that isn’t published to the map?

It should work. It’ll just live in your “Unlisted” section in Scaniverse but you can share the link and only those who have the link can access it.

Yeah, this part confuses me. Does it only live on my device? When is it uploaded? During processing?

It only gets uploaded after you tap the Share icon and select either “Post to Map” or “Share Link”.

Well, that’s what I thought. But then if I share the link from my Unlisted section in Scaniverse, does that mean that it only lives on my phone? Do I have to keep my phone on if I want people to interact with it? Are they accessing my phone? It has to live on some network beyond my phone.

It exists on Niantic’s Scaniverse servers just like all your public splats.

Ok, back to my first question. When did it leave my phone and upload to their servers?

When you select either of the two options after selecting “Share” as mentioned in my previous reply. If you need to have 100% confirmation, you can consider reaching out to Scaniverse: hi@scaniverse.com
