I’m new to the Scaniverse having just started using it two days ago. I am using the android app, version 4.0.3 (127), on my Pixel 7 Pro, Android version 15 (Feb 5th). I have made a few scans and was able to successfully post one of them to the “public” Scaniverse map and I see it when I view the map in my Quest3s. However, when I try to upload an “unlisted” scan by selecting it in in the app in my library and then pressing the “Share Link” button, it starts to upload but then stops with the error message “Failed. There was an error uploading your scan.” I have tried several different scan links, but they all fail. I hope you can help. Thanks!
Hello! A patch addressing various bug fixes for Android devices will be implemented in the next release, Version 4.0.4, which should become available within the next few days. However, in the event that your issue is not resolved, could you tell us if the “Post to Map” is also giving you issues or if it’s just sharing publicly that results in scans failing to post?
HI!
“Post to Map” worked fine, and I was able to post a scan to the map and visit it in my Quest3s. And it was awesome! My scan is called “Issaquah, WA - caboose at the old train depot” which is located just East of Seattle in a little town called Issaquah. I’m looking forward to filling the Scaniverse in my area, and beyond! Thanks for the quick reply.
Hello! I tried to upload a couple more scans yesterday (using the Android app) to the Map and received the same “no internet connection” error message other users have reported. It’s strange that I was able to successfully upload my first scan to the Map without any problem a few days ago. Looking forward to the 4.0.4 update!
Hello again! Version 4.0.4 is now available for Scaniverse. Could you try uploading again, both with a new scan and any of your older scans? Please let us know if your issue persists so we may assist you further. Thank you!
HI!
I updated the app to 4.0.4 and tried to upload old scans (4.0.3) to both the Map and Link and received errors on both functions. I made a new scan (4.0.4) and attempted to “Share Link” but after about 20 seconds of “Creating Link, Uploading” the window changes to “Failed , There was an error uploading your scan.” And a cancel button. I will need to find a public place to create a new scan to test uploading to the public Map, but I can report when I try to use an old scan and “Post to Map” first it starts to upload for about 20 or 30 seconds, then I get an error window that says “Upload error, There was an error uploading your scan. Please try again” with an OK button. If I hit OK and try again, the error window pops up immediately. I even tried a few more times with the same result. I’ll let you know if I have any luck with a new public scan and Post To Map upload.
Hello!
The team has been made aware of the issue. We will notify you when there are any relevant updates or if we need further details that could help us in our investigation. We appreciate your patience in the meantime!
Hi. New to the Scaniverse (10 days ago, v4.0.3), I was able to share one scan to the map and then it just stopped sharing. The latest update (4.0.4) did not help. I have reported the problem in another thread, but I am curious: Is anyone able to share scans from their android app? Or is it just me and a handful of other unfortunate users who can scan but not share? Is it a problem with my phone? I’m on a Pixel7 Pro running android 15 (Mar5th). I’ve tried multiple data and wi-fi connections. There must be someone out there using the Android app and successfully sharing scans, right?
Well, I feel like an idiot but the problem appears to have been that I logged myself out of the app. As soon as I logged back in, I was able to share to the Map and Link and I am so very happy now. I had no idea I logged myself out. Maybe instead of just delivering a Failed Upload error, the app could say something like, “You need to be logged in to share scans.” That would have saved me a lot of grief. Anyway, I’m loving my new scanning life now. Thanks!
This solution did not work for me.
I managed to upload one scan to the map, but after that it keeps saying “Upload error”. I also noticed that I was signed out (my library was empty and in some view my username was marked as @null). I imagined after signing back in I would be able to upload scans again, but it still gives me the same error.
I should have mentioned that it only allows me to share scans made with the latest version (4.0.4). If I try sharing scans made with version 4.0.3 it still fails and gives me the error. Are you trying to share new scans? I have a feeling my scans made with 4.0.3 may never work. I hope you can get it going!
Thank you, Bryant! We appreciate you updating us with a solution that worked for you.
Medium Sized Dog, What device are you using, and are you on the latest version of the app?
iam having this issue uploading my scan to the map. Keep getting error message. Not sure whats wrong. I tried reprocessing it as well to see if that was the issue, but its not
Have you had any successful uploads? If it’s just a particular scan that’s giving you trouble, I have had the same thing happen. I’ve been wondering if one reason for an upload error could be that it is a scan of private property, or restricted area? I read somewhere that some locations are not allowed to be posted. My error came when I tried to post a picture from the garden department at a local Home Depot. It occurred to me that I was in a commercial business and it might not be allowed. However, if that is the cause of an error, in my opinion it should be a clearer message like “Error - Restricted location” or something like that. I hope you get it working!
I don’t think so.
A few days ago I’ve scanned a tree. Just a tree in the field. I’ve could send it privately but not public, to map. The known upload error appears just when I push de Post to map button.
I thought that error was been fixed but not, sometimes happens to me, sometimes not, posting to map.
But sharing privately always works and I can see all of them in the map with my Quest 3 using my user, of course.
Very strange.
No. Because recently i had a scan of a historical church. The scan would not upload to the map because of the error. But i went back and redid the whole scan, and this second time it uploaded to the map successfully with no problems.
my current workaround is to always “share” a new scan… which actually means upload but set its “visibility” field to “private”.
Having a browser interface able to manually edit all metadata of a scan would be very useful; currently I am only able to read them:
